Wentworth is a small border town in the far south west of the state of New South Wales, Australia. It lies at the confluence of Australia's two most important rivers, the Darling and the Murray, the latter forming the border with the state of Victoria to the south. The border with the state of South Australia lies approximately 100 km to the west. The town of Wentworth is in the Local Government Area of the same name.

La ville doit son nom à l'explorateur William Wentworth. À la fin des années 1800, la ville fut un important port fluvial mais le développement du rail provoqua le déclin puis l'arrêt du transport par voie d'eau et l'activité du village déclina. À l'heure actuelle, la ville est surtout un lieu de tourisme pour les personnes qui veulent visiter l'Outback. La ville possède une prison (The Wentworth Gaol), un bateau à aubes restauré, le « Ruby » et organise un rallye annuel de tracteurs. La ville, à 37 m d'altitude, a une température moyenne maximale annuelle de 24.3 °C, une température minimale moyenne de 10.9 °C et des précipitations annuelles de 286,1 mm.
