Wellington is a community located in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Wellington's population is roughly 1700 people. Once called Smokeville after a local First Nations elder, the name was changed in the 1860s to Wellington. One of Prince Edward County's first residents, Daniel Reynolds, first came to the area in the 1700s and settled in Wellington where his house remains today along Main St.
