Wellingborough is a town in Northamptonshire, England situated some eleven miles from the county town of Northampton and eight miles south of Kettering. It dates from the 6th century and is mentioned in the Domesday Book under the name of Wendelburie, and was granted a royal market charter in 1201. It has a population of 72,519 (as of the 2001 census).

It is situated on the north side of the River Nene with most of the older town being sited on the flanks of the hills above the river's flood plain. Frequent flooding of the Nene's flood plain makes it obvious why the town was mostly built above the flood plain. It is twinned with Niort, France and Wittlich, Germany. Recently twinning with Mont Sillia in Italy has been under discussion. Wellingborough is the main town in the Borough Council of Wellingborough, with their office located in the town centre.

Od południa omija miasto droga szybkiego ruchu A45, łącząca je z drogą A14 oraz autostradą M1, pozwalające bez większych problemów dotrzeć w każdą część kraju. Ponadto w czasie dnia co 10 minut kursuje autobus do Northampton, a linia X4 łączy co pół godziny miasto z Milton Keynes, Ketteringiem, Corby oraz Peterborough. Również średnio co 30 minut odjeżdża pociąg do londyńskiej stacji kolejowej St Pancras Station, którego podróż trwa 55 minut. Z Wellingborough railway station można także do dojechać do Leicesteru, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield i Leeds. Pociągiem można także dojechać do dwóch najbliższych międzynarodowych portów lotniczych – Londyn-Luton (bez przesiadki) oraz Londyn Stansted (z przesiadką w Leicester lub Londynie). Podróż ta podobnie jak samochodem nie powinna trwać dłużej niż 1-2 godziny. Największym centrum handlowym Wellingborough jest Swansgate Shopping Centre leżące w samym środku miasta. W tym zbudowanym na przełomie lat 60. i 70. centrum można zrobić zakupy w sklepach Argos, Boots, Game, HMV, WH Smiths czy Wilkinsons (w niedalekiej odległości od centrum leżą także Wooolworth i Matalan).
