Waslala is a municipality in the Región Autónoma del Atlántico Norte department of Nicaragua - it is 71 miles from Matagalpa and 161 miles from Managua. The revolution affected Waslala tremendously - it was the location of many guerilla fights. The main village has electricity even televisions, cell phone service and an Internet cafe run by the Parish. The 95 outlying villages do not have electricity or running water although some business owners have generators for limited power supplies.
