  • Wangaratta ist eine Stadt im australischen Bundesstaat Victoria und liegt etwa 230 km nordöstlich von Melbourne am Highway und der Eisenbahnlinie zwischen Melbourne und Sydney. Sie liegt am Zusammenfluss von Ovens River und King River auf etwa 150 m Höhe und ist Hauptstadt des lokalen Verwaltungsgebiets der Rural City of Wangaratta. In der Gegend von Wangaratta waren im 19. Jahrhundert zwei berüchtigte Verbrecher zuhause: Dan Morgan, der auf dem Friedhof der Stadt begraben liegt, und Ned Kelly, der im nahe gelegenen Glenrowan lebte und dort gefangen wurde. In der Nähe der Stadt liegt auch die Geisterstadt Eldorado, die an die Goldgräbervergangenheit erinnert.
