The first stars, awarded on July 16, 2004, were inaugurated in the presence of Christina Weiss, Culture Representative and Minister of State of Germany and Kurt Beck, the premier of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In January 2007, Peter Hammerschlag was honored, and his became the 43rd star on the walk.
  • „Sterne der Satire – Walk of Fame des Kabaretts“ ist der Name eines Stücks Fußgängerzone entlang des Proviantamts in Mainz. Es verbindet die in dem alten Festungsgebäude beherbergte Stiftung Deutsches Kabarettarchiv mit dem unterhaus – Mainzer Forum-Theater und mit der Schillerstraße. Mit jeweils einem bronzenen Stern werden die Namen bedeutender deutschsprachiger Kabarettisten verewigt, zusammen mit dem Namen des jeweiligen Stifters. Auf diesem Weg am Romano-Guardini-Platz sind zur Zeit 64 Sterne eingelassen . Zusätzlich sind 16 vorbereitete Leerplätze für weitere Sterne vorhanden.
