Virgen de los Angeles Day is a Costa Rican holiday celebrating Costa Rica's patron saint, the Virgen de los Angeles (la Negrita). It is celebrated on August 2nd with religious pilgramages from San José to the Nuestra Señora de los Angeles Basilica in Cartago. It is the basilica where many tourists and local visit in the country.
