The V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is the main academic library and main scientific information centre in Ukraine, one of the world's largest national libraries. It is located in the capital of the country - Kyiv. The library contains about 15 million items. Генеральный директор библиотеки — академик НАНУ, доктор философских наук, профессор Онищенко Алексей Семёнович Фонды библиотеки включают около 15 млн единиц хранения. Информационными ресурсами библиотеки пользуются около 500 тыс. читателей, которым ежегодно выдаётся до 5 млн документов. Библиотека является депозитарием документов и материалов ООН на Украине. В библиотеке хранятся все кандидатские и докторские диссертации, которые защищаются на территории Украины. Книгообмен осуществляется с библиотеками 80 стран мира и с более чем 1500 научными учреждениями.
