- "Valerie" is a song by the English indie rock band The Zutons off the band's second studio album, Tired of Hanging Around (2006). Released as the album's second single on 19 June 2006 in the United Kingdom, along with their previous single "Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?", it gave The Zutons their joint-biggest single to date as well as their second UK Top 10 single, climbing from Number 41 (via download sales alone the day before physical release) to its peak at Number 9 in the UK Singles Chart. The music video was directed by Scott Lyon. The song was used by ITV during their coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, alongside Kasabian's cover of David Bowie's 1977 song "Heroes" and Primal Scream's 2006 song "Country Girl".

Begin 2008 komt het nummer ook binnen in de Nederlandse Mega top 50 en de Top 40. In de Mega Top 50 komt het nummer op 5 binnen, om twee weken later op 1 te belanden. In de Top 40 komt het nummer op 20 binnen om twee weken later ook op de eerste plaats terecht te komen. Ook in de Nederlandse Single Top 100 kwam het nummer op 1. Het is de eerste nummer 1-hit die in Nederland uitsluitend te downloaden is. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk is Valerie echter wel gewoon op cd-single verkrijgbaar, maar de Nederlandse markt was hiervoor afgeschermd. Dit betekende dat ook via de legale import de cd-single niet verkrijgbaar was. Dit als statement van het platenlabel dat de cd-single in 2009 tot het verleden zal behoren. Later, op 11 februari, toen het nummer al op nummer 1 stond, kwam het nummer toch nog uit op gewone single. Voor Mark Ronson en Amy Winehouse is deze single het succesvolste in hun carrière, in zowel Nederland (#1) en het Verenigd Koninkrijk (#2).
