- Ulu Tiram is a town in Johor Bahru District, Johor. The town lies along trunk road number three, named Tebrau Highway, at the junction which leads to Ulu Tiram. The trunk road leads on to Mersing in northeast Johor and Kuantan in Pahang. Ulu Tiram is located approximately 18 km from Johor Bahru to the south and 20 km from Kota Tinggi to the north. Neighbouring housing/industrial/shophouse estates include Taman Intan, Taman Sri Tiram, Taman Bukit Tiram, Taman Ros, Taman Mutiara, Taman Ros, Taman Nora, Taman Gunung Emas, Taman Zamrud, Taman Puteri Wangsa, and Taman Desa Cemerlang. The town hosts a taxi depot which ferries people around Johor as well as to Johor Bahru. The taxi depot hosts a small shopping complex. The town is of little interest; markets and shophouses selling various provisions and accessories constitutes much of the town. The town also hosts a small housing and industrial estate. A nearby Catholic cemetery, located near the industrial estate, was founded by Church of the Holy Immaculate Conception in Johor Bahru in 1978 is only accessible by transport via road J8. According to the Catholic bishop of Melaka-Johor, James Chan, the land used for the cemetery is reportedly to be rented from the surrounding oil palm estate owner. Also located in Ulu Tiram is a privately owned memorial park called Sanctuary Memorial Park, the closest privately owned memorial park from Johor Bahru. Sanctuary Memorial Park caters to the diverse needs across a large section of the Malaysian population. There are burial plots and urn compartments for Buddhist, Taoist, Catholics, Christians and free-thinkers. In fact, they are the only private memorial park operator in Johor that provides a dedicated burial area for Catholics and Christians to house their departed loved ones.
