Turksat Satellite Communication and Cable TV Operation AS is the only satellite operator company in Turkey. It was founded as a government company. Turksat AS also has 100% of the shares of Eurasiasat SAM, jointly established a spin-off company with Aérospatiale in 1996 to manufacture and launch Turksat 2A in 2001. Turksat AS operates Turksat 1C, Turksat 2A and Astra 1D (lease capacity). In 13 June 2008, a new generation satellite Turksat 3A was launched and positioned at 42 degrees East.
