Programmes are focused on different countries from every corner of the globe, and encompass different types of travel such as backpacking adventures, culinary quests, eco-friendly holidays and luxury getaways. Travel Channel was launched in 1994, and broadcasts in 14 languages to 117 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Travel Channel International Limited, an independent London-based company, also operates Travel Channel Video on Demand, Travel Channel Productions and Thomson TV. Travel Channel 2 launched on Sky Digital on Monday 11th February 2008 but closed on Monday 2nd March 2009 when the EPG slot was sold to Style Network.

W 2009 roku dostęp do programu otrzymali ponownie abonenci Cyfry+. Kanał ma swoją siedzibę w Londynie, nadaje w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz w innych krajach w Europie oraz w Afryce. W Wielkiej Brytanii kanał został uruchomiony w 1994 roku, nadaje w 15 językach, w 117 krajach (m. in. na terenie całej Europy). Angielska wersja językowa Travel Channel dostępna jest bezpłatnie z satelity Astra. W pozostałych państwach europejskich kanał jest kodowany i dostępny dla subskrynentów wielu operatorów. Amerykański kanał Travel Channel należący do Discovery Communications nie jest związany z brytyjskim kanałem Travel Channel i nadaje pod nazwą Discovery Travel & Living w państwach gdzie jest dostępny jego brytyjski odpowiednik. W pozostałych krajach nadaje pod tą samą nazwą co brytyjski Travel Channel.
