(December 5, 1983) One of only eight Scotland natives to ever be a major league ballplayer, he pitched for the Indians from 1984 to 1985, and again in 1987. Sitting out 1986 on the disabled list. The majority of his 113 appearances was as a relief pitcher, but he did start 9 games. Career highlights include setting an Indians rookie record with 58 relief appearances in 1984 and a 7-hit complete game win over All-Star Dave Stieb and the Toronto Blue Jays (August 19, 1985). Waddell had shoulder surgery in September 1985 and was unsuccessful in a brief 1987 comeback bid. He finished his career with a total of 15 wins, 11 losses, 15 saves, 56 games finished, and an ERA of 4.30.
