Auch bekannt ist Terrys Remix des Songs Missing von Everything But The Girl. Der Remix von Givin’ You All That I’ve Got von Robin S. für den Space Jam-Soundtrack, wurde mehrfach mit Platin ausgezeichnet. Seine Tracks Something Goin On und Keep on Jumpin waren beide in den britischen Charts vertreten. Auf dem Track Keep On Jumpin waren die Stimmen der beiden Sängerinnen Martha Wash und Jocelyn Brown zu hören, die zum ersten Mal gemeinsam sangen. Terry war auch an einem Musikprojekt mit Barbra Streisand und Gloria Gaynor beteiligt, wo der Song „No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)“ entstand. 2001 gründete Terry die beiden Plattenlabels In House und Sound Design. Neben Todds eigenen Produktionen erscheinen auf Sound Design Künstler wie die Jungle Brothers, David Anthony, Wendy Phillips, Just Us und Ronnie Ventura. Im gleichen Jahr entstand der Track „Babarabatiri“. Die Nummer wurde von der Miami Winter Music Conference gelobt und als Ibiza-Hymne 2001 angesehen. 2004 wurde sein Track Weekend für das Videospiel Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas verwendet, der auf dem Radiosender SF-UR zu hören ist.

Vers la fin des années 80, il signe, sous différents pseudonymes (Royal House, Black Riot), quelques morceaux phares du genre comme Can You Party, Weekend et A Day In The Life. Son style se caractérise par une utilisation très marquée du sample, mais les sons qu'il emprunte sont souvent retravaillés, si bien qu'ils se révèlent parfois méconnaissables à l'arrivée et peuvent donner une authentique impression de composition originale. Créant de la house avec une approche hip-hop jusqu'alors inédite, Todd Terry n'a donc sans doute pas été lui-même samplé fortuitement par de nombreux artistes ou groupes de rap: on peut par exemple citer les Jungle Brothers, qui n'hésitent pas à réutiliser l'instrumentation complète de Can You Party pour leur I'll House You. Au cours des années 90 et 2000, il se fait surtout remarquer pour ses remixes de chansons interprétées par des artistes aussi célèbres que Björk, Sting, Janet Jackson et Robert Plant. On notera également ses collaborations avec Martha Wash et Jocelyn Brown, notamment sur l'album Todd Terry Presents: Ready For A New Day.

Negli anni a seguire suonerà in alcune note discoteche newyorkersi come il Paradise Garage dove assieme a diversi dj come Larry Levan si occuperà della prima New York house. Nella seconda metà degli anni ottanta diventerà un dj e produttore di musica house piuttosto attivo a livello mondiale. Il suo sound era particolarmente identificabile perché miscelava la house con i ritmi latini del freestyle. Nel 1987 assieme a Kenny Dope Gonzales inaugura lo storico gruppo di musica dance Masters at Work. I primi singoli saranno Allright Allright e Dum Dum Cry. Dall'inizio del 1988 produce i classici house Can You Party e Party People firmati Royal House ed A Day in the Life del progetto Black Riot. Nello stesso anno uscirà il vinile The Royal House Album. Successivamente, nell'autunno del 1988 produce I'll House You dei Jungle Brothers. Nello stesso periodo (1988-1989) il suo disco Weekend/Just Wanna Dance era arrivato in cima alle classifiche da discoteca di tutto il mondo. La canzone originale risaliva al 1978 ed era stata prodotta da un gruppo afroamericano che si chiamava Phreek. Le cantanti del gruppo nel 1983 si unirono a Larry Levan con il nuovo nome di Class Action e decisero di produrre la seconda versione di Weekend. Un'ulteriore remix uscì nel 1986 (Mid Week Version). Nel 1988 le Class Action realizzarono questa quarta versione del brano con la parte musicale eseguita, appunto, da Todd Terry. Secondo gli appassionati di musica dance la versione di Todd Terry fu la migliore tra quelle uscite nel corso dei dieci anni in cui il motivo venne ritoccato. Ancora oggi quando viene effettuato un ricampionamento di Weekend la versione a cui si fa riferimento è proprio quella del 1988.
