  • Batikování je řemeslná vykrývací technika užívaná při zdobení a barvení různých předmětů běžné denní potřeby, např. textilií, velikonočních kraslic, různých keramických potřeb, dřevěných výrobků apod. Podstata této metody spočívá v překrytí míst, jenž mají zachovat svoji původní barvu nějakým překryvným materiálem, např. voskem nebo i jiným vhodným materiálem. Ostatní nezakrytý povrch předmětu se pak obarví (s výjimkou dřeva, jenž se moří). Až tato barva zaschne, krycí materiál se opatrně z předmětu odstraní a původně vykryté plošky pak vytvoří ornament nebo zachovají obrys původního vzoru v barevně tónované ploše. Technika batikování se hojně uplatňuje nejen při běžné výtvarné tvorbě, ale zejména při lidové umělecké tvořivosti, snadno se s ní dá pracovat i v běžném domácím prostředí.
