  • Thomas Mikal Ford (born June 15, 1962 in Yonkers, New York, known and credited also as Tommy Ford) is an American actor who is best remembered for his character "Tommy Strawn" in the sitcom Martin for which he received an NAACP Image Awards nomination in 1996 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Martin: Tommy was, at times, the straight man for Martin Lawrence's jokes on this FOX sitcom, but he very often inserted scene-stealing "bald-headed logic" and witty comments in odd situations. Also, his character was often the butt of many jokes regarding his mysterious employment status. New York Undercover: After the demise of "Martin," Ford found success in the revamped-for-1998 FOX detective drama "New York Undercover" in the role of Lieutenant Malcolm Barker. The Parkers: Ford also played a key role in the UPN sitcom The Parkers as Nikki's ex-husband (and Kim's father) in a string of episodes. The Power of Passion: Ford also played a role as "Ben Cummings" in The Power of Passion as one of the characters wife who cheats on him with the pastor.... Also notable are his comical, spot-on lampoons of stereotypical African-American preachers throughout his work, beginning with "Martin" and continuing through recent works.
