Thomas George Lyon-Bowes, Lord Glamis was the father of an heir to the Earldom of Strathmore and Kinghorne. He was the only son of Thomas Lyon-Bowes, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Mary Elizabeth Louisa Rodney Carpenter. He married Charlotte Grimstead, daughter of Joseph Valentine Grimstead and Charlotte Sarah Jane Walsh, on 21 December 1820.
