Sur scène, il continue à entonner les hits de Modern Talking et remplit salles et places comme au Chili où 60 000 spectateurs l'acclamaient. Lors du come back de Modern Talking en 1998, Thomas renoue donc avec le succès à l'échelle internationale, en endossant la casquette de gentil du groupe Modern Talking, dont il est l'interprète. Mais après 12 albums en commun, le groupe se scinde à nouveau.
