Ab etwa dem vierten (regulären) Album dominiert dann der bis heute charakteristische "Southern Rock". Zwischen den regulären Studioalben spielte die Band immer wieder bekannte christliche Lieder ein, brachte u. a. auch ein reines Weihnachtsalbum heraus. In den USA gewann die Band mehrere musikalische Auszeichnungen. Anfangs 2008 gab Third Day bekannt das Brad Avery aus der Band ausgestiegen ist . W 1996 roku wraz z popularnym wtedy zespołem NewsBoys Third day zagrał jako support podczas 5 koncertów wzdłuż wybrzeża zachodniego. W tym samym roku band otrzymał nominacje do nagrody Dove Award dla nowego Artysty Roku. W 2001 roku zespół wydał swój pierwszy albym DVD. Po koniec tego roku mieli na swoim koncie w sumie pięć nagród Dove oraz pierwszą nagrodę Grammy, album również zdobył status złotej płyty. W 2004 roku Third Day wydał płytę Wire i w czerwcu tego samego roku koncertował również w Europie. Po dwóch latach wydali płytę świąteczną, a w 2008 roku pojawiła się płyta Revelation.
