The Wrong Man is a 1956 film by Alfred Hitchcock which stars Henry Fonda and Vera Miles. The film is based on a true story of an innocent man charged for a crime he did not commit, even though witnesses swear he is guilty. Hitchcock si attiene strettamente al fatto di cronaca e questo gli farà dire, in seguito, che il suo film non fu dei più riusciti proprio a causa di questa dicotomia: l'esigenza della finzione filmica in contrasto con quella, impostasi dal regista, di una stretta aderenza alla cronaca avrebbero reso il film una specie di documentario non riuscito.
