  • The Victoria Lucas were an indie rock band formed in late 2000 based in Brooklyn, New York. The band began as a three piece but later expanded to a more or less steady nucleus of five members: Juan Stacey (guitar and vocals; founding member), Andy Levine (theremin, trombone, percussion, and vocals), Nate Knaebel (bass and vocals), Kathy Horne (guitar and vocals; founding member), and Randy Costanza (drums and percussion; founding member). They maintained a nebulous association with a number of musicians in the New York City area, and were known to perform with as many as eight people on stage. The group's music was a mixture of straight rock, punk, and folk sensibilities that was compared to the Mekons and early Talking Heads. The band fragmented in 2007 when Costanza returned to his native Pittsburgh. Former members now play in several other bands, although the core lineup played a farewell performance on September 23, 2008 in Brooklyn.
