Le groupe se compose à l'époque de Joe Hobson, son frère Jeff Hobson, Nick Krill, Thom Hughes, Jon Eaton, Albert Birney (qui a quitté le groupe aujourd'hui) et Sam Hughes. L'idée de fonder ce groupe revient à Nick Krill, qui a découvert des paroles de chansons écrites par son grand-père guitariste, Roy Spinto : le groupe s'appelle The Spinto Band en son honneur. Les sept copains essayent alors de reprendre les textes du grand-père Spinto en musique, pour se lancer ensuite dans la composition de leurs propres chansons. Le groupe est inspiré par diverses compositions : Weezer, les Beach Boys, Pavement ou encore les Flaming Lips. En moins de 8 ans de carrière, le groupe a publié pas moins de sept albums autoproduits. Puis en 2006, The Spinto Band sort l'album Nice and Nicely Done porté par Oh Mandy, "Did I tell you", "Brown Boxes". Leur titre "Direct to Helmet" est le thème musical de la publicité télévisuelle d'Yves Rocher en France en 2007.
  • ザ・スピント・バンド (The Spinto Band) は1996年に結成されたアメリカ合衆国デラウェア州ウェルミントン出身のインディーズロックバンド。軽やかなポップな音が特徴。兄弟2組を含むメンバーは友人・家族ぐるみでの付き合いを通し結成され、幼少の頃から活動しているため既に10年の下積み期間を経ている。 アークティック・モンキーズやアーケイド・ファイア、クラップ・ユア・ハンズ・セイ・ヤー等に代表される「新世代バンド」と共にインディ・ロック・シーンで注目を集めはじめ、2006年にはFUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '06に出演。 2005年発売の『Nice And Nicely Done』はメジャー・レーベルからのリリースだったが、再びインディーズに復帰。プロデューサー/エンジニアにデイヴ・トラムフロ、ミキシングにチャド・ブレイクを迎え、アメリカではPark The Van, イギリスではFierce Pandaという名門レーベルから2008年10月に『Moonwink』をリリース。日本盤はBoundeeより10月に発売。
