Le décès du chanteur Malcolm Owen le 14 juillet 1980, mettra fin à la carrière du groupe, qui malgré un album posthume (singles, live) intitulé « Grin & Bear It » et un album principalement instrumental et dub sous le nom de RUTS DC, disparaîtra de la scène, non sans laisser son empreinte dans les musiques métissées qui se développeront dans les années 1980.
