| - The Prodigy is a British electronic group formed by Liam Howlett in 1990, in Braintree, Essex, England. Along with The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and The Crystal Method, as well as other acts they are pioneers of the electronic dance genre which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s, and are known for high-quality live sets. They have sold over 17 million records worldwide which is unequalled in dance music history. Their music consists of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore, industrial and breakbeat in the early 1990s to electronic rock with punk vocal elements in later times. The current band members include Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards), Keith Flint and Maxim Reality . Leeroy Thornhill was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000, as was a female dancer/vocalist called Sharky who left the band during their early period. The Prodigy first emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, and have since then achieved immense popularity and worldwide renown. Some of their most popular songs include "Charly", "Out of Space", "No Good ", "Voodoo People", "Firestarter", "Breathe", "Smack My Bitch Up", "Omen" & "Warrior's Dance."The name displayed on album covers changed from "The Prodigy" to "Prodigy" between Music for the Jilted Generation and The Fat of the Land in 1997 and back again with the release of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned in 2004. - The Prodigy é uma banda britânica de música eletrónica, considerada uma das maiores referências de um sub-género desta, o big beat. Iniciaram a sua carreira em 1990, quando Liam Howlett, Keith Flint e Leeroy Thornhill se cruzaram num clube na cidade onde viviam, Essex, e decidiram formar um grupo. A intenção era Keith e Leeroy ocuparem a posição de dançarinos, dando assim um contributo para que a música que Liam criava ganhasse vida em cima dos palcos. O primeiro concerto aconteceu no The Labyrinth em 1990, ao qual se juntou por divertimento Maxim Reality (no papel de MC), acabando por ficar até hoje nessa função. Desde então a banda que começou a tocar em raves pelo Reino Unido tem realizado concertos em vários pontos do mundo, passando pelos principais palcos e festivais da Europa, Austrália e Estados Unidos, até aos destinos menos usuais, como Líbano, Indonésia e Malásia. A banda possui já anos de experiência, com altos e baixos, sendo o auge da carreira em termos comerciais quando o compacto "Firestarter" em 1996 despontou na grande mídia. O compacto de apresentação, "Invaders Must Die" será disponibilizado dia 26 de Novembro às 19:30 de forma gratuita durante sete dias no sítio oficial da banda. O vídeo será apresentado, também no sítio oficial, no dia 28 de Novembro. A faixa "Run With The Wolves" terá participação de Dave Grohl, . O primeiro single chama-se Omen (ete tema na alemanha chama-s apenas O, devia a ameaça judicial de um grupo de eurodance dos anos noventa, chamado Magic Affair, já que estes tiveram um sucesso nos anos 90 com uma música intitulada de Omen III (pode ser ouvida no youtube).A banda irá atuar em Portugal no dia 10 de Julho de 2009, no palco principal do Festival Optimus Alive, tocando no mesmo dia que Placebo, The Kooks e ainda Os Pontos Negros.
