  • The Ides Of March war eine US-amerikanische Rock-Band der 60er Jahre. Die Mitglieder der Gruppe waren zusammen auf einer Schule in Chicago, Illinois. Auf der Highschool beschlossen sie, eine Band zu gründen, und nannten sie nach dem Drama Julius Cäsar von William Shakespeare The Ides of March (Die Iden des März). Sie spielten in kleinen Clubs und Discotheken, bis sie schließlich 1966 entdeckt wurden und einen Plattenvertrag bekamen. Die erste Single You Wouldn't Listen kam bis auf Platz 42 der US-Charts, die zweite, Rollercoaster, schaffte es lediglich auf Platz 92. Der größere Erfolg kam erst 1970 mit dem von Sänger Jim Peterik selbst geschriebenen Song Vehicle, der ein Millionenseller wurde. Die Band veröffentlichte noch zwei weitere Singles (1970 Superman und 1971 L.A. Goodbye), bevor sie wieder in der Versenkung verschwand. Mitte der 70er Jahre versuchte Peterik, die Gruppe neu zu formieren, aber ohne Erfolg. 1978 gründete er dann die Rock-Formation Survivor, bei der er 1996 nach fast zwanzig Jahren wieder ausstieg. Anfang dieses Jahrtausends kehrte er zu The Ides of March zurück. Mittlerweile tourt die Band wieder; außerdem sind in den letzten Jahren eine Live-CD und eine Zusammenstellung der größten Hits erschienen.
