Damian Genaurdi war früher Bassist bei In My Eyes, Sam Cave war Gitarrist bei Trouble. The Explosion durfte sich in den USA die Bühne unter anderem mit A.F.I. und Sick Of It All teilen. Im Herbst 2002 bekam die Band einen Plattenvertrag von Virgin. Anstatt sich ihrem Major-Debüt zu widmen, gründete The Explosion Tarantulas Records, das als Plattform für befreundete Bands dienen sollte. Am 30. April 2007 löste sich die Band auf.
