William and Mary Law School ranked 28th in the 2010 U.S. News rankings of the nation's law schools. W&M Law is the second-highest ranked law school in the Commonwealth of Virginia and ranks above peer competitor law schools Washington and Lee University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. As a public university, W&M Law charges relatively low tuition compared to many other Top 30 law schools. Among public law schools, W&M Law is the 10th-highest-ranked public university law program on the U.S. News & World Report survey (the undergraduate institution is the highest ranked small public university according to U.S. News). The Law School's former Dean was W. Taylor Reveley III, former managing partner of Hunton & Williams. Davison Douglas was named the new dean in the spring of 2009.
