TelQuel, is a French-language Moroccan weekly magazine. It is privately owned, and has an independent and often critical editorial line towards the Moroccan government. It took its name from the French literary journal Tel Quel, published from 1960 to 1982. Its present director of publication is Ahmed Benchemsi. The editor-in-chief is Karim Boukhari, who was editor before replacing Driss Ksikes as editor-in-chief in 2006.

It took its name from the French literary journal Tel Quel, published from 1960 to 1982. Its present director of publication is Ahmed Benchemsi. The editor-in-chief is Karim Boukhari, who was editor before replacing Driss Ksikes as editor-in-chief in 2006. TelQuel has been repeatedly subjected to harassment and pressures from the Moroccan government, according to press freedom watchdogs such as Reporters without Borders (RSF). It was convicted in 2005 on charges of defamation, in what the RSF described as a political trial. TelQuel now has a Moroccan Arabic edition, Nichane. On 1 August 2009, the Moroccan government seized an edition of TelQuel, following its inclusion of an opinion poll conducted jointly with French newspaper Le Monde and looking at the performance of King Mohammed VI over the first ten years of his reign. Although 91% viewed his performance favourably, the authorities considered this to be an unsuitable topic for coverage and promptly banned publication of the survey, provoking a furious reaction from the press and Web users.

Die politische Linie des Blattes ist säkularistisch und monarchiekritisch. Als eines von wenigen Medien bringt Telquel umstrittene Themen wie Sexualität und Homophobie zur Sprache. Wegen kritischer Berichte und Kommentare wurden mehrfach Ausgaben der Zeitschrift beschlagnahmt. Seit 2006 besteht das arabischsprachige Pendant Nichane.

Son actuel directeur de publication est Ahmed Réda Benchemsi. Son rédacteur en chef est Karim Boukhari. Le groupe Telquel édite aussi un hebdomadaire arabophone, titré en arabe dialectal Nichane. Telquel défend une ligne éditoriale libre et sans concessions envers le pouvoir en place, la preuve en est les nombreux procès intentés contre lui depuis 2003. Le magazine traite plusieurs sujets, mêlant économie, politique, société... Bien que critiqué au sein de certains milieux politico-financiers marocains, Telquel a toujours su garder son indépendance et sa subjectivité dans les sujets traités par ses journalistes .
