  • Kamelienöl ist ein Pflanzenöl höherer Viskosität, das aus den Samen von verschiedenen Kamelien-Arten gepresst wird. Das Kamelienöl wird in China, Vietnam und Japan vorwiegend aus den ölreichen Arten Camellia oleifera und Camellia sasanqua, in selteneren Fällen auch aus dem weniger ölhaltigen Samen des Teestrauchs (Camellia sinensis) gewonnen. Die als Zierpflanze bekannte Kamelie (Camellia japonica) spielt als Quelle für das Öl eine mengenmäßig nur geringe Rolle. Das Öl darf nicht mit Teebaumöl verwechselt werden, welches von einer anderen Pflanze gewonnen wird. Das aus den Samen gepresste Öl wird in Japan „Tsubaki“ (= Kamelie) genannt.
  • 椿油（つばきあぶら、英語 camellia oil、tea oil）は、ツバキ科ツバキ属のヤブツバキの種子から採取される植物性油脂。ユチャなど、ツバキ属の種子から取ったものの総称はカメリア油（カメリアゆ）と呼ばれる。利用の歴史は古く、続日本紀には、777年、渤海国使が帰るときに海石榴（つばき）油を所望したので贈った、との記述がある。 なお、アロマテラピーなどに用いられるティーツリーオイル（teatree oil）は、英語の名称が似ているが、フトモモ科の植物から作られる精油で、全くの別物である。
