Im Bereich TELES Communication Systems (TCS) werden Infrastruktur-Systeme für Telekommunikationsnetze unter der TELES AG entwickelt und vertrieben. Das Unternehmen wurde 1983 von Prof. Dr. -Ing. Sigram Schindler in Berlin als TELES GmbH in enger Kooperation mit der TU Berlin gegründet. Schindler vertrat als Dozent das Fachgebiet Telekommunikation an der Berliner Technischen Universität bis 1998. 1997 wählte das „manager magazin“ Prof. Schindler zum High-Tech-Manager des Jahres 1997. 2004 verklagte Teles mit seinen VoIP-Patenten u.a. Cisco, AVM GmbH, 1&1, Freenet AG, Quintum und IP Telekom. Die Verfahren sind teilweise noch offen und warten u.a. auf die Nichtigkeitsklagen von Cisco und Quintum. Eine Tochterfirma der Teles AG, die STRATO AG, wurde 2005 an die Freenet AG verkauft. Daraufhin wurde die Klage gegen Freenet fallengelassen. Im Jahr 1999 kaufte Teles die Apple-Computer Händler Kette Gravis, den zu diesem Zeitpunkt größten Mac Computer Verkäufer. Schon 2001 wurde sie jedoch wieder abgestoßen. 2008 wurden 80% der TWBI GmbH und damit des Bereichs Teles Wirelesse Broadband Internet an die Mountain Super Angel AG verkauft. Die Teles AG behielt 20% Anteil. Damit hat sich die Teles AG von ihrem produkt Sky DSL (Satelliten-Internet) getrennt. Im Geschäftjahr 2008 belief sich das EBITDA auf -10.6 Mio. EUR, das EBIT auf -14.4 Mio. EUR und das EBT auf -36.8 Mio. EUR bei einer Eigenkapitalquote von 49 %.
