Sussex Records, Inc. was a record label founded December 18, 1969 by Clarence Avant that was located first at 6430 W Sunset Blvd at the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga Blvds and later at 6255 W Sunset Blvd Suite 1902 both in Hollywood. Before 1974, all records were distributed by Buddah Records, after 1974 Sussex went into independent distribution.

Sussex Records was the home of Bill Withers, Rodriguez, Gallery, The Presidents, Wadsworth Mansion, and others. Bill Withers' Sussex recordings were later purchased by Columbia Records, who he signed with in 1975.
