Susan Meiselas (born 1948) is an American photographer. Meiselas was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended junior high school in Woodmere, N.Y. After taking a BA at Sarah Lawrence College and an MA at Harvard University, she joined Magnum Photos co-operative in 1976 and has worked as a freelance photographer since then. In 1981, she visited a village destroyed by the armed forces in San Salvador and took pictures of the El Mozote massacre.

En 1976 se unió a la agencia Magnum y ha trabajado como fotógrafo freelance desde entonces. En 1981 visitó un pueblo destruido por el ejército en San Salvador y realizó fotografías de la masacre del Mozote. Su primer trabajo fue Carnival Strippers y en el que retrataba la vida de estas mujeres en la zona de Nueva Inglaterra. Este trabajo fue realizado en tres años y se publicó en 1976 año en el que entro a formar parte de la Magnun gracias a la repercusión de este trabajo. Entre 1978 y 1979 documento la insurrección en Nicaragua, sus fotografías fueron publicadas en distintos periódicos y revistas y posteriormente publico un libro monográfico titulado NICARAGUA, Junio 1978-Julio 1979. En 1997 realizo un reportaje sobre la situación en Kurdistan y abrió una página web www. akaKURDISTAN. com. Además de esto Meiselas realizo dos documentales sobre la influencia que tuvieron sus fotografías sobre las personas retratadas en sus fotografías de Nicaragua. Ha publicado varios libros con su trabajo.
