Het meest opvallende aan de band was het zuivere stemgeluid van zanger Wilson. Stiltskin had maar twee hits: Inside (behaalde in een aantal Europeese landen de nummer 1 positie); het intro van dit nummer is in 1995 gebruikt voor een spijkerbroekenfabrikant en America (die het minder goed deed). In 1994 kwam hun debuutalbum The Mind's Eye uit. In 1996 is Stiltskin opgeheven. Ray Wilson bracht eerst een solo album uit en ging eind 1996 aan de slag als zanger van Genesis, omdat Phil Collins de band verlaten had. Met Genesis bracht hij in 1997 het album ... Calling All Stations... uit. Wegens tegenvallende verkoopcijfers van het album en een tegenvallende tour (in de Verenigde Staten zelfs afgelast) heeft hij in goed overleg met Mike Rutherford en Tony Banks de band Genesis verlaten, hetgeen ook resulteerde in de tijdelijke opheffing van die band (Genesis is in 2006 weer nieuw leven in geblazen met zanger/drummer Phil Collins). Ray Wilson ging na het verlaten van Genesis weer solo. In 2005 heeft Ray Wilson Stiltskin weer nieuw leven ingeblazen. In 2006 kwam het tweede album van Stiltskin uit. Het album heet She. Alleen Ray Wilson maakt deel uit van de originele Stiltskin bezetting. Wat Peter Lawlor, Ross McFarlane en James Finnigan momenteel doen is onbekend.
