  • Stevie Ocean (real name Stephen Michael Levy) is a Jersey based actor, singer, songwriter, journalist, poet, photographer and broadcaster. He was born in England on 5th February 1955. Stevie first found fame as a journalist in London’s Fleet Street, working for the Telegraph newspaper. His most famous stunt was to wear a suit made entirely of newspapers to a black tie function. He claims he is able to type 160 words per minute. When he moved to Jersey from the UK in 1984 he became the night porter and night manager at the Ocean Hotel, adopting the name of the hotel after giving his first performance there. He was once the manager of the crazy golf at Fort Regent Leisure Centre. Many of his ideas were put into place after his departure, to follow his showbusiness dreams. He was a supporting astiste in the BBC’s Bergerac (which is better than an extra). He was injured in an Road Traffic Accident, as a result of injuries sustained in the collision he now wears two TENS machines. The “accident” finished his singing career. He has appeared on: James Whale Show, Bergerac, Whatever Happened to Stevie Ocean, Who wants to be a millioinaire (fastest finger first round) (ITV), Peter Mac Breakfast Show, The Phone in, Tommy Boyd Breakfast Show, Jed & Kate Breakfast Show He has released 4 albums (cassette release only), selling 16,000 units worldwide. The first album was titled “Stevie Ocean on Jersey” 1990 (12 tracks in total) over 4,000 sold . This was followed in 1992 by his second release “Pick of the Bunch” (24 tracks in total) over 4,000 sold. 1992 was by far his most productive year, as he also released the follow up cassette “Changes” (24 tracks in total) over 4,000 sold . Finally in 1994 he released his final cassette titled “Golden Moments” (12 tracks in total) over 4,000 sold. The albums are currently being extensively remastered and are due to be re-released in assorted digital formats later this year. In 1990 he was a founder and chairman of the Jersey Rights Association, where he worked tirelessly to address some important basic rights which are taken for granted in many countries. He was fundraising officer for the Jersey Powerboat Association, but was dismissed on a “silly technicality”. He is represented by the Sandra Reynolds Agency in Norwich. He is currently working on a new high profile boy-band project, that is due to be revealed in November 2009. An accomplished linguist, Stevie has mastered several modern languages including: Portuguese (fluent read/write), Italian,French,Spanish,German (through German Satellite TV) and Russian. One problem he has had to face is that for 28 Years Stevie never ate vegetables due to an unfortunate incident involving a huge pyrex bowl of peas which in his own words "... I looked at it and I went green", "... four hours I sat at that table forcing it down my throat and for the first hour all I kept doing was wretching with every mouthful". A less well known fact is that Stevie is a holder of a 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate. But he hasn't had to "use it" in Jersey as quite rightly he has been trained to kill with his hands and feet and they are "deadly weapons". He has met lots of famous people including "Rene & Renata", "The Krankies", "John Inman" "People from Eastenders" and "Adam Faith" to name but a few. Shane Ritchie has apparently deployed an impression of Stevie that "does him to a T".
