Stephen Ray "Steve" Perry (born January 22,1949) is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Journey from 1978–1987 and 1995–1998. Regarded as one of popular music's greatest singers, he is recognizable by his pure vocal tone, technical skill and ability to reach, and sustain, notes over a wide range. Perry had a successful, but short lived solo career throughout the late eighties and early nineties.

" Steve Perry is eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, both as a solo artist (since 2009) and as a member of Journey (since 2000).

Hüftprobleme verursacht durch einen Sturz auf Hawaii verzögern den Tourstart zum Album „Trial by Fire“. Steve Perry steigt im Mai 1998 erneut bei Journey aus. Im gleichen Jahr kommt die Kompilation Greatest Hits + Five Unreleased in die Läden. Wie der Titel schon verspricht, sind auch fünf unveröffentlichte Songs der Against The Wall - Sessions enthalten. Im gleichen Jahr komponiert er noch 2 Lieder für den Film Quest of Camelot.
