  • Stechford railway station serves the Stechford area of Birmingham, England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by London Midland. It lies at the junction between the Birmingham to Coventry line, and the predominantly freight-only Stechford-Aston spur. The station was of much greater importance at the end of the 19th century, and retained a working freight-yard until the 1980s. The yard tracks have since been lifted. Except for the very few direct Walsall to Birmingham International trains only two platform faces are regularly in use. On 28 February 1967, Stechford station was the scene of a train collision. Although up Walsall to Birmingham International trains have a platform face of their own; down Birmingham International to Walsall trains use the up main platform via a facing crossover. The 19th century bridge over the railway underwent renovation in August-September 2006. Stechford Station has poor access for people with mobility impairments. Steep steps lead from the ticket office to the Birmingham platform, and the Coventry platform can only be reached by traversing a further bridge. People with mobility impairments are therefore generally advised to use Lea Hall, which is equipped with ramps. The station is on Victoria road, just off Station Road which is part of the A4040 Birmingham outer ring road.
