The aim of the school is, according to the Ordinance, to "provide education to Chinese youths in the English language upon Christian principles". The school opened with one tutor and nine pupils. Today, the school has 1163 pupils in the secondary section and around 500 in the primary section.
- 聖保羅書院（St. Paul's College）是基督教香港聖公會創辦的一間學校，為香港補助學校議會22所補助學校之一。聖保羅書院成立於1849年，是香港歷史最悠久的學府，設有小學部和中學部，小學部只收男生，至中六、中七才有女生入讀。地址位於香港島西半山般咸道69號。聖保羅書院相信是世界第一所華人英語學校。據正式記載，該校於1851年奠基；但文獻顯示，早於1841年，英國聖公會派遣史丹頓牧師來港，他在英國籌集款項，並於1849年創立聖保羅書院。起始之時，該校只有一位導師及九位學生。至2007年2月，這間全日制學校有1,163名學生就讀。 現任校長為甘納德博士。
