The local primary school, Mount Rogers Community school - Spence Campus, closed at the end of 1998 due to a lack of enrolments, students were encouraged to move to the Melba Campus. Spence has a neighbourhood oval, currently in great disrepair. The local shopping centre has a medical centre, butcher, hairdresser, baker, takeaway and Supermarket. Along with a Service Centre including a Petrol Station, Mechanics and Auto Electrics. Another local supermarket is located on Copland drive. Next to it is the Tongan Community Centre, rebuilt in 2007 after being burnt down earlier in the year.
