Spakenburg is a Dutch village north of Bunschoten. Spakenburg is formally called Bunschoten-Spakenburg since its fusion with Bunschoten. The village lies south of the IJsselmeer in the municipality Bunschoten, Utrecht. It is one of the few places left in the Netherlands where some women still wear local traditional clothes. In the 20th century, the two villages have grown quickly, and since about 1965 they form one single town, officially named Bunschoten. The football teams IJsselmeervogels and SV Spakenburg are located there.Also the basketball team BC Shooters is located there.

  • Spakenburg is een voormalig vissersdorp aan de Zuiderzee. Tegenwoordig maakt het samen met de buurtschappen Eemdijk en Zevenhuizen deel uit van de gemeente Bunschoten, in de Nederlandse provincie Utrecht. Het ligt ten noorden van Amersfoort en aan het Eemmeer. Het dorp is te bereiken via de A1. Bunschoten en Spakenburg zijn door verschillende nieuwbouwwijken dusdanig aan elkaar gegroeid dat, op de oude kernen van de twee plaatsen na, er geen onderscheid meer wordt gemaakt tussen de twee. Voor de post liggen alle adressen in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Toch verschilt het karakter van de twee plaatsen sterk. Bunschoten, aan de zuidkant, was altijd een boerendorp maar had in het verleden wel stadsrechten. Spakenburg is altijd een vissersdorp geweest. (nl)
