Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region (often abbreviated as SNNPR) is one of the nine ethnic divisions (kililoch) of Ethiopia. It comprises the former Regions 7-11. Its capital is Awasa. The SNNPR borders Kenya to the south, the Ilemi Triangle (a region claimed by Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan) to the southwest, Sudan to the west, the Ethiopian region of Gambela to the north, and the Ethiopian region of Oromia to the north and east.

Wysokość terenu sięga od 376 do 4207 metrów nad poziomem morza. Ponadto 56% obszaru znajduje się w zasięgu gorącego klimatu nazywanego tutaj kolla, reszta położona wyżej (powyżej 1500 metrów) część regionu znajduje się w bardziej umiarkowanej strefie klimatycznej. Opady sięgają od 500 do 2200 mm. Intensywność opadów wzrasta wraz z przesuwaniem się z południa na północ. Przeciętna temperatura sięga od 15 do 30°C. Znajdują się tu bogate złoża mineralne, m. in. : złoto, węgiel, żelazo i azbest. Region jest także stosunkowo zasobny w wodę, co w Etiopii ze względu na katastrofalne susze jest bardzo ważne.
