Sosruko or Sosriqwe is a central character in many cycles of the Nart sagas of the Caucasus. Sosruko is a powerful but devious man who is the smallest of the Narts; as a character, he is sometimes cast in the light of the trickster god, comparable to the Scandinavian Loki (who finds a closer parallel in the Nart Syrdon however), Georgian Amirani, or the Ancient Greek Prometheus. It is possible that at least in the latter case, Sosruku served as a direct inspiration.

Il Ciclo dei Narti narra che un giorno Satana era al fiume a far il bucato quando un pastore la vide e ne rimase affascinato a tal punto da sdraiarsi su una pietra e trarne piacere pensando alla donna. Satana lo vide e tempo dopo prese altre giovani narte, si recò alla pietra e la sgravò di un bimbo che venne chiamato Soslan. Il bambino crebbe e diventato più grande disse alla madre che non sarebbe mai valso niente se non fosse stato immerso nel latte di lupa dall'artigiano celeste Kurdalægon. Kurdalægon interpellato da Satana fu d'accordo e si mise a scavare la tinozza per immergervi il bambino, ma Syrdon lo confuse e la tinozza fu fatta più corta di quattro dita. Quando fu pronta, vennero portati cento sacchi di carbone e Satana mandò il marito Uryzmæg a procurarsi il latte al crocevia dei sette sentieri, qui l'eroe narte incontrò Silæm, la madre di tutti i cani del mondo che condusse a lui tutte le lupe del bosco da cui Uryzmæg munse il latte necessario. Una volta pronto tutto Kurdalægon immerse Soslan nella tinozza che essendo più corta costrinse il bambino a tenere le ginocchia piegate, ciò lo rese tutto di acciaio ad esclusione delle ginocchia rimaste di carne.

Sachant cela, cette dernière revient neuf mois plus tard et ouvre la pierre pour y récupérer l'enfant. Elle l'élève ensuite comme son propre fils et le nomme. Soslan est parfois farceur, mais aussi beau et invulnérable sauf au genou ou à la hanche selon les variantes des légendes. En effet, soit il s'est baigné dans le liquide qui a rendu sa peau invulnérable et le bac était trop petit donc ses genoux dépassaient et n'ont pu être mouillés, soit une forgeron le tenait par la hanche avec des tenailles pour le tremper, ce qui empêcha sa hanche de se mouiller donc de devenir invulnérable. Il meurt en se faisant couper les jambes ou fracturer la hanche par une roue magique avec des pointes d'acier, Syrdon ayant révélé à cette dernière le point faible permettant de le tuer. Suite à cela, selon les versions, Soslan se venge de Syrdon juste avant de périr, ou ce sont les autres Nartes qui le punissent en lui donnant la mort.
