Him and his ex-wife are both in the same hairdessing business under their boss and friend who's an openly gay man. The series was planned to air September 30, 1976 on NBC and to star David Brenner as the hairdresser. The series was to be a take-off of the movie Shampoo and was created by James Komack, the creator of Chico and the Man and Welcome Back Kotter. However, NBC had cancelled the comedy at the last minute after 7 episodes (5 episodes already produced) were made (It was so abrupt even TV Guide was caught off guard, and still listed the show in its schedule guide). The reason was of homophobia to NBC after Brenner said "In 1976, there were no gay people in America. " The five episodes were aired in Australia, however and the series was soon cancelled there after the five episodes, despite high ratings.
