Sir Andrew Marshall Porter, 1st Baronet (1837 – 1919) was born in Belfast, the son of Rev John Scott Porter. Andrew Marshall Porter was educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and Queen's University, Belfast. In 1860 he was called to the Bar and by 1872 had become Queen's Counsel. From 1881 to 1884 he was a Member of Parliament for County Londonderry.
