Die Motorleistung wurde leicht erhöht auf 84 PS. Der Wagen wurde sogar nach USA exportiert, die Fahrzeuge wurden dort vom Ford-Konkurrenten Chrysler vertrieben. Es gab nun die Ausstattungsreihen, die wiederum zu verkürzten Bezeichnungen führten: Beaulieu 1958 Présidence 1959 (mit verlängertem Radstand) Chambord 1960 Am 9. Februar 1961 verließ die letzte Vedette das Werk in Poissy. Dort liefen noch bis 1969 Vedettes mit stärkeren Motoren (zuletzt als Chrysler Esplanada) vom Band. In Australien baute Chrysler die Vedette zwischen 1958 und 1962. Im Laufe der sieben Produktionsjahre unter Simca wurden 166.985 Vedettes hergestellt . Auf die einzelnen Jahre verteilt sich die Produktion wie folgt:

Simca venait de prendre en 1954 une importante participation dans l'entreprise Ford-SAF, qui cessait alors toute fabrication dans l'hexagone pour recentrer l'activité du groupe sur Ford Allemagne et Ford Grande-Bretagne, et avait ainsi « récupéré » l'usine de Poissy et la gamme Vedette 55 préparée par Ford-SAF pour succéder à la Ford Vedette de 1949 modifiée en 3 volumes en 1953. Dessiné par les bureaux de Ford à Dearborn (Detroit, Michigan), le premier modèle présenté en septembre 1954 fut la Simca Versailles produite à partir de novembre 1954. La gamme sera étoffée avec les modèles Régence (luxe), Trianon (bas de gamme) et Marly break. Le moteur était un V8 Ford de 2 351 cm à soupapes latérales, développant 80 ch à 4 800 tr/min. La structure de la voiture innovait avec un châssis coque remplaçant la conception châssis + coque. En revanche, la transmission restait classique avec boite de vitesses mécanique à trois rapports et pont arrière rigide à ressorts semi-elliptiques, direction à vis et galet type Gemmer et freinage sans assistance. Toutefois, la suspension avant passait au moderne système Mac Pherson. En 1955, la Versailles était vendue 899 000 Francs, soit 50 000 Francs de plus que la 203, alors commercialisée par la firme Peugeot. Un toit ouvrant et translucide "Vistadome" était disponible en option sur les trois modèles. La gamme évoluera à partir de 1956 et les années suivantes : emplacement de remplissage d'essence sous la plaque de police arrière, pare-chocs avant intégrant la place de police, passage de 6 en 12 volts, et introduction du modèle bas de gamme Ariane avec le moteur 4 cylindres de l'Aronde également en 1957. Au Salon 1957, la Trianon disparait et devient l'Ariane 8, la Beaulieu remplace la Versailles, la Chambord remplace la Régence, le break Marly conserve son nom et adopte seulement la nouvelle face avant des Beaulieu et Chambord, et un nouveau haut de gamme apparait, la Présidence. En 1961, la production s'arrêtera en France, mais les chaînes transférées au Brésil produiront pendant des années.
