Movies like Kireedam, Thaniyavarthanam, His Highness Abdulla, Bharatham, and Akashadoothu defined the way Malayalam movies were made, especially in the late 80s and early 90s. Mnay of his films have screenplays by A. K. Lohithadas. Malayil is also the president of the Film Employees' Federation of Kerala (FEFKA).
