The Shire of Indigo is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the north-eastern part of the state and is named after the Indigo Valley and Indigo Creek which runs into the Murray River through the shire. It includes the towns of Beechworth, Chiltern and Rutherglen. It has an area of 2,070 square kilometres. In 2006 it had a population of 14,800.

It includes the towns of Beechworth, Chiltern and Rutherglen. It has an area of 2,070 square kilometres. In 2006 it had a population of 14,800. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of the Shire of Rutherglen, Shire of Chiltern, Shire of Yackandandah and United Shire of Beechworth. Indigo was rated fifteenth of 590 Australian Local Government Areas in the BankWest Quality of Life Index 2008. The council is composed of seven councillors elected to represent an unsubdivided municipality.
