  • Shimmy Rivers and and Canal was a UK beat combo that was formed in Dalston, London in 2003. In 2005 Resonance FM released a collection of demo recordings and gave the band its first major gig. This took place at the Conway Hall in 2005 to celebrate the radio station's 3rd Anniversary. The band's association with Resonance would continue leading to them collectively hosting the 'Daddy Said So Land' radio show that was broadcast in 2006-2007 and featured many live sessions and interviews including Alexa Chung, Let's Wrestle and Sonny Tufts. Shimmy Rivers and and Canal announced their split in February 2009, and played a final gig at Barden's Boudoir on February 27. The band were due to release a 7" record on Siltbreeze Records in January 2009. They had also completed their debut album entitled 'Forks' which was recorded and mixed by Capitol K and is to be released later in the year.
