Shem Kororia is a former Kenyan long-distance runner who specialized in the 5000 metres and half marathon. He represented his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Kororia was the third man ever to run the half marathon within an hour, when he won the world title on 1997-10-04 in Košice, Slovakia, clocking 59:56. He won 500 metres gold twice at the Military World Games: in 1995 and 1999 . He also won the Parelloop 10K in race in the Netherlands in 1997 .
