Mr. Bathras is Severna Park's fourth (4th) principal in four (4) years. Severna Park High has gained a strong reputation in Anne Arundel County for its consistent success in academics and athletics. Severna Park consistently scores highly in the Maryland School Assessment (MSA). Severna Park students consistently score highly in the High School Assessment (HSA). On a national level, Severna Park hosted nine National Merit Scholarship finalists in 2006, accounting for 90% of the finalists from Anne Arundel County. Both the boys and girls lacrosse teams were state champions in 2007. The school's mock trial team won the state championship in 2008 and 2006, and was undefeated in the county for several years. The school has also gained a strong reputation for theater and music. Rock N Roll Revival is an annual stage show produced in March. The production consists of students (and some staff) performing classic rock songs. The show has a band, singers, dancers, and a tech crew that is almost entirely composed of SPHS students. In 2007, the production's 18th year, six of seven shows were sold out.
