  • SA Forum redirects here. It can also refer to the Something Awful Forums. The Service Availability Forum (SAF or SA Forum) is a consortium that develops, publishes, educates on and promotes open specifications for carrier-grade and mission-critical systems. SA Forum specifications enable commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) ecosystems for highly available platforms, streamline development and accelerate time to market. The Service Availability Forum develops and publishes high availability and management software interface specifications. They also promote and facilitate their industry adoption. The SA Forum specifications enable the implementation of carrier grade systems and services built with commercial off-the-shelf building blocks. This modular architecture, built on open standard hardware and software, allows for greater reuse and a much quicker turnaround for new product introductions. The OpenSAF Project started in January 2008 is as open source implementation of the SA Forum specifications and SCOPE Alliance recommendations for NEP High Availability middleware The SA Forum specifications include: Hardware Platform Interface (HPI): Separates the hardware from management middleware and makes each independent of the other. Application Interface Specification (AIS): Standardizes the interface between Service Availability Forum-compliant High Availability (HA) middleware and service application
